Dr Adrian Poulton

Lecturer

Adrian Poulton joined the Open University in 2001 as a Lecturer in Embedded Systems, having been an associate lecturer with the University since 1990, tutoring on several Technology courses. He graduated at the University of Wales in 1974 and was awarded his PhD from Imperial College in 1979. He is a Chartered Engineer and has held positions in electronics design and computing both in industry and in academia. He was an author on T224 Computers and Processors, T223 Microprocessor-based Computers, T324 Keeping Ahead in ICT, T325 Technologies for Digital Media, and T150 Digital Audio which he also chaired. Adrian's current research interests include applications of microelectronics in rehabilitation engineering, such as intelligent prosthetics, in addition to communications.

Adrian has interests in communications technology within the department's NeXt Generation Multimedia research group. In addition he has a long standing interest in applications of microelectronics in rehabilitation engineering, such as intelligent prosthetics and functional electrical stimulation.

Adrian is a member of the module teams presenting T324 Keeping Ahead in ICT and T325 Technologies for Digital Media. He is also a member of the production team of the forthcoming Level 3 module TM355 Digital communications.
