Senior Lecturer

Senior Lecturer in Environmental Engineering; researching waste policy issues and energy from waste.  Stephen trained as a chemical engineer and before joining the Open University worked for a number of governmental organisations and private sector consultancies specialising in research management, waste processing, waste combustion and general environmental pollution measurement and control work.

Since joining the OU, Stephen has worked on the production and delivery of many environmental technology courses at undergraduate and post-graduate level and has supervised several research students. His current research interests cover waste surveys and using life cycle assessment tools to assess the environmental impact of different waste management processes. He has carried out consultancy work for the Environment Agency, the National Assembly for Wales and the Scottish Environment Protection Agency.
