Richard Moat

My main areas of interest are metallurgy, residual stress and diffraction based characterisation methods. I have worked extensively with Neutron, synchrotron and x-ray diffraction for residual stress characterisation as well as for quantitative material analysis. I completed BSc and MSc degrees in Materials Science and Engineering in the School of Materials at the University of Manchester and went on to complete my doctoral degree under the supervision of Professor Michael Preuss and Professor Philip Withers in the same school. After a few years postdoctoral research experience I moved to my current position as Lecturer in Materials Engineering
