Research Fellow

Background

Julius received undergraduate and postgraduate training in biological sciences, biotechnology and business administration (project management) in Zimbabwe before attaining a PhD in science, technology and innovation (biotechnology) policy at The Open University in 2008. In 2009, Julius received a two-year Leverhulme Early Career Fellowship to conduct research on cross-national technology governance in Sub-Saharan Africa’s biosafety (ag-biotech) and medicines control sectors. In 2012, Julius received a 3-year ESRC Future Research Leaders grant to conduct research on innovative spending in health, an analytical notion that he is introducing, with South Africa and Zimbabwe as study countries. He has on-going and growing interests and networks as well as academic, policy and practice influence on science, technology and innovation issues in Sub-Saharan Africa.
