David Victor Wield



Dave expertise focuses on the governance and regulation of science and technology; policy and management of technology in public and public-private networks; firm innovation strategies; and development policy, with emphasis on industrialisation and development, science and technology capabilities in East and Southern Africa, research policy and higher education in African universities and research institutes.

He has worked in Tanzania, Mozambique and the USA as well as in the UK, including Scotland. He has published more than 100 articles and seven books.

He directs the ESRC Centre for Social and Economic Research on Innovation in Genomics.

Dave's present research interests cover the nature of the bioeconomy, from the pharmaceuticals industry to biotech firms and the networks that build new productsa nd processes from biological, medical, agricultural and social knowledge.

Dave supervises PhD Students in his areas of research interest.
