Nicky Moss

Senior Lecturer

My PhD used an agent based simulation to investigate the learning of navigational skills using non-conceptual content. This research grew out of my study of Cognitive Science, and my particular interest in the Philosophical aspects. My reading has continued as my interest has shifted towards an embedded, or situated, understanding of cognition. Most recently I have begun to explore this perspective from an Eastern tradition, in particular Buddhism.

Nicky has written material for courses in both the undergraduate and post graduate programmes here at the OU. He has not really followed a traditional research path, preferring to keep up to date with what is going on in industry. This has led directly to the OU delivering the Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) programme by distance learning. He is also interested in the philosophical dimension of artificial intelligence and aspect of teaching and assessment using on-line tools.
