Dimitrios Karampoulas

Research Student (Part-time)

Dimitrios Karampoulas received his BSc (Hons) of Engineering in Electronics and Telecommunications for the Hellenic Air Force Academy, Greece, in 1988 and MSc in Laser Communications and Fiber Optics from the University of Essex, UK, in 1998. He worked for 25 years as an Air Force officer, where among other things, he had taught Radar Fundamentals, Digital Communications and Electronic Warfare at the Hellenic Air Force Technical College from 1998 to 2009.

Since October 2011, Dimitrios is a part-time PhD student with the neXT Generation Multimedia Technologies Group (XGMT) at the Open University, UK, under the supervision of Professor Laurence Dooley and Dr. Soraya Kouadri. His project is about compressive spectrum sensing techniques for cognitive radio.

Dimitrios is a Chartered Engineer (C.Eng) and a certified Project Management Professional by the Project Management Institute (PMI).

His research interests include signal processing, wireless communications, compressive sensing, cognitive radio and networks, cognitive radar and radar technology.
